PRE-SALES AND PRODUCT REGISTRATION

Q: I just purchased PrintBoy v.7 and I I am using Pendragon Forms v.5.1. , when I send a print job within Pendragon I get a message from PrintBoy that states I am using a trial version. What’s wrong?
A: PrintBoy Premium for PalmOS v.7  does not directly support Pendragon Forms. The folks at Pendragon added their own printing support using our SDK (developer kit). The correct product you need to print your Pendragon items is called the PrintBoy PrintEngine.  To purchase the PrintEngine and obtain the correct download and registration code, go to the BOTTOM of this page, http://www.bachmannsoftware.com/purchase.htm, and choose the appropriate (Palm or PPC) one under the heading, PrintBoy Run-Time Print Engine for PrintBoy-enabled 3rd Party Applications ($19.99). This is the code to be entered in PrintSetup on the handheld after installation.

Q: I just purchased an HP DeskJet 460 printer. Do you have a driver for it?
A: Our HP 460 driver is available in a special version of PrintBoy. In order to get it, you must register at our website and get the specific version of PrintBoy (It is free for HP 460 owners). Here is a link, http://www.bachmannsoftware.com/pbhp460.htm.

Q: My registration code is not working. Can you help?
A: Here are some things to check:

  • Make sure you have PrintBoy v.7 installed.
  • Make sure that you open PrintBoy (not PrintSetup) tap "PrintBoy" in the top left corner, choose register. Enter your code and tap OK.
If you still have trouble, please complete our support form on our website and be sure to include your hot sync name, (exactly as it appears on your pda). To find your hot sync name: On your pda, tap on the "Hot Sync" icon from the “All” page. Your Hot sync name will appear in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

Here is a link, http://www.bachmannsoftware.com/pbsupform.htm.

Q: I just ordered online and did not get my registration code yet?
A: Once you place your order online, you will receive an e-mail from us within approximately 48 hours. The e-mail will provide a link to download the software and a registration code. (If you ordered PrintBoy Premium or PrintBoy Premium for Palm OS Upgrade you will receive your code immediately via Handango.)

Q: I just purchased from the Palm Store or have a CD or boxed copy of PrintBoy. Do I need a registration code?
A: No, but please register with us for future updates here.

Q: What is the difference between the trial version and registered version of PrintBoy?
A: The only difference between the trial version and registered version of the software is that the trial version has a 30-day time limitation and will stop operating after 30 days.

Q: I have the trial version of your software and have just purchased a copy of PrintBoy from the Palm Store or a boxed copy of PrintBoy from a retail outlet. Should I delete the trial version ?
A: Yes. Download PBClean to help you with this.

Q: How do I upgrade to PrintBoy Premium 6.0 ?
A: For more information on upgrading, please visit our upgrade page.

Q: What versions of QuickOffice contain a free copy of PrintBoy?
A: Only QuickOffice Premier. PrintBoy is not included with QuickOffice, Quickoffice Pro, or any other variation of QuickOffice.

Q: What version of PrintBoy is included with QuickOffice Premier?
A: PrintBoy Standard includes support for printing documents, spreadsheets, powerpoint, and the standard Palm "PIM" applications (Address, To Do, Datebook, Memo). PrintBoy Standard does not include database printing or outline printing. Customers who visit our web site and register may obtain free additional printing utilities, as well as a special upgrade price to Bachmann Utilities, which includes FilePoint Pro as well as database printing.

Q: I want to register the PrintBoy software that I received with QuickOffice Premier. What do I use for a Serial # on your registration screen.
A: In the Serial # field on our Registration page, please use the QuickOffice registration code provided when you purchased.

Q:How do I get PrintBoy Premium?
A: You may download the latest PrintBoy Premium software from our Downloads page.

Q: How much memory does PrintBoy use on the Palm?
A: PrintBoy is a flexible product that allows you to install as many or as few PrintBoy applets and PrintBoy printer drivers as you wish. The core printing engine is approximately 50KB in size. Each printer driver installed typically requires an additional 10KB, and each additional printing application can add up to 25KB of memory.

Q: I am going to purchase a serial cable - the Greenwich cable costs approximately $70 but CompUSA sells other serial to parallel cables for about 15.00 - why must I use the more expensive cable? If all the cable does is convert a serial connection to a parallel connection, could I not simply plaug my Palm cradle into my printer cable and print that way?
A: The reason for the difference in price from $70.00 to $15.00 is the way the cables transfer data. In order for a Palm device to transfer information to a peripheral device, you need to match their communication speeds (more commonly called baud rates). The $70 cable is an 'active' connecting device which is powered to transfer data at 57600 bps (bytes per second). This enables the Palm device to communicate with the printer at the proper communication speed. The $15 cable is a 'passive' connecting device, which does not help to match the communication speeds of the Palm device and the printer.

Q: Where do I find my Palm User ID (Hot Sync Name)?
A: To find your hot sync name: On your pda, tap on the "Hot Sync" icon from the "All" page. Your hot sync name will appear in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

INSTALLATION

Q:How should I install PrintBoy Premium?
A: Once you download PrintBoy Premium, you may follow the instructions on this page to install.

Q: How do I upgrade to PrintBoy Premium 6.0 ?
A: For more information on upgrading, please visit our upgrade page.

Q: I have an older version of your software, and would like to install the latest version. What should I do before I load the new version?
A: You should delete the older version before you load the latest registered version. If you are having trouble deleting the trial version, you can download PBClean, which is a simple Palm utility that cleans out any old PrintBoy components for a fresh install.

Q: I have the trial version of your software and have just purchased the registered copy. What should I do to load the new version?
A: There is no need to delete the trial version. You may simply enter the registration code provided after purchasing PrintBoy and the trial version will become the "real", registered version.

Q: I downloaded your software and rather than save it to a folder on my PC, I chose to open it. Why won't it install properly?
A: If you downloaded a zip file, please make sure you are extracting from WinZIP to a folder on your PC, THEN run Setup.exe from that folder. Running setup from inside WinZip doesn't always work very well.

Q: What do I need to know before I install PrintBoy ?
A: If you have a Palm, Handspring, TRGPro, IBM Workpad, Symbol SPT 1500/1700 or any other personal digital assistant (PDA) that uses Palm OS operating system version 3.0 or higher, you can use PrintBoy!
Please also check ourPrinter Compatibility Chart to make sure your printer is supported.
To install and use PrintBoy, all you need is the following:
-A Palm Pilot or compatible device using Palm OS 3.0 or above
-A personal computer
-A Palm compatible Hotsync cradle
-Unzip software such as WinZip

CONFIGURATION

Q: How can I tell if my printer is IR equipped?
A: Simply look at your printer to see if it has an IR port. It will look like a shiny, reddish-black square someplace on the front of the printer. If you are not sure, check your printer user guide, the printer manufacturer's website or the printer manufacturer directly. If you do not have an IR equipped printer, you can easily upgrade your printer with our, InfraReady Adapter.

Q: How do I choose to print IR?
A: If your printer has an IR port on it, then run PrintBoy setup, select your printer, hit "edit", and choose "IRDA" instead of Serial. Set this as your default printer and now you can print via IR.

Q: What if I don't have an IR printer? Can I still use PrintBoy?
A: Although many printers come with an IR port built in, some do not. If you do not have an IR printer, we would recommend that you upgrade your printer with an IRDA adapter. Bachmann Software offers two infrared adapters for sale, the InfraReady Adapter, and the InfraReady Plus adapter.

Q: Can I use my Palm cradle to print using PrintBoy?
A: No, PrintBoy works by sending a formatted print job directly from your pda to the printer, and does not make use of or require a PC connection. For infrared printers, you simply point your pda's infrared port at the printer's infrared port, within a distance range of 1 to 3 feet.

Q: How do I print from Clipboard?
A: First, highlight the text you wish to print. Then, tap on the file menu, tap edit, then paste, then done. Next, tap on the PrintBoy Icon, go to Clipboard, then tap print.

Q: Why can't I save my document or memo to Clipboard?
A: The Palm OS limits the amount of data you can save to the clipboard. This is not a limitation of PrintBoy, but rather your PDA. Try saving a smaller portion of the document and see if clipboard accepts it.

Q: How do you get graphical output from PrintBoy?
A: We are constantly creating new drivers and improving existing drivers, so check our web site frequently for updates. Currently the graphical drivers are: "HP LaserJet and Compatible", "HP DeskJet and compatible", "Canon TruePage", "Epson TruePage" and "Ricoh". Selected models from Lexmark, Epson, Brother and Okidata will produce graphical output via either the LaserJet or DeskJet drivers. All other drivers will print attractively formatted text output.

Q: Do I have to hot sync my Palm/ to run it through my PC to print?
A: PrintBoy prints directly from your Palm to your printer via infrared. It does not use the cradle or the PC to do this. It is much faster to print from your PDA, since you DON'T need to boot up your PC. The only reason you need a PC is to initially install the software.

Q: I have a Canon i70 printer. When I use the Canon TruePage driver the print is tiny. Do you have a driver for this printer?

A: We do have a driver for the Canon i70. This driver was considered a beta version but we have since updated it. It will be included in the next PrintBoy Premium for Palm OS release. In the meantime, you may download the driver and necessary font files from here. The printing speed is still slow but other corrections have been made.

Q: I have a Canon i80 printer. Do you have a driver for it?

A: We have learned that our Canon i70 driver will work with the Canon i80 printer. You may download the driver and necessary font files from here.

Q: My Clie NX handheld is having trouble connecting to my HP Deskjet 350 portable printer. I am using the supplied HP infrared dongle. What could be the problem?

A: We have heard that the Clie NX series cannot connect to the deskjet 350's HP IR dongle at speeds higher than 9600. Go into Print Setup, edit your driver settings and change the Infrared speed to 9600. Note that our Infraready IR adapter will work with the DeskJet 350 at the higher speed of 57600, this seems to be a problem only with the HP IR dongle supplied with the 350.

FEATURES

Q: Does PrintBoy support DocsToGo v. 10?
A: PrintBoy v.7 supports printing DocsToGo v.10 Native Word and PDF files.

Q: Is FilePoint included with PrintBoy now?
A: PrintBoy File Explorer is actually a “lite” version of Bachmann’s full-featured FilePoint program. FilePoint has many features which help you work with programs and files on your handheld. Filepoint lets you connect wirelessly to your desktop and retrieve documents to your handheld, launch applications directly from your memory expansion card, save space by moving files to and from your memory expansion card, organize your files in folders for easy access, and much more. You can explore FilePoint’s full functionality during the free trial period, after which you may purchase FilePoint at www.bachmannsoftware.com if you wish. (The PrintBoy File Explorer functionality will continue to work even if you do not choose to purchase FilePoint).

Q: I can print my contacts and a memo but I cannot print my Word and PDF files. Why?
A: PrintBoy has to go through a conversion process (by contacting our Remote Conversion Service via an internet connection) when printing Word or PDF documents. This is necessary to convert the document to a readable format on the handheld device in order to be printed. You can read more about the specifics in the documentation, starting on page 14, http://www.bachmannsoftware.com/PrintBoy7forPalmOSDocumentation.pdf.

Q: Why can’t I print spreadsheets now that I have PrintBoy v.7?
A: We hope to add support for printing spreadsheets in a future update. We do not yet have an expected time frame for that update.

Q: PrintBoy doesn't list documents that I have stored on my expansion card. Are expansion cards supported?
A: At present PrintBoy does not allow you to print files that are stored on your expansion card, but we do support this feature in our FilePoint product, which offers full expansion card file management for Palm handheld users. If you'd like to check out FilePoint, your best bet is to go to our web site and try a trial download here. If you want to print these files using PrintBoy alone, your only option is to temporarily move the document to RAM, then print it. After printing, you can then move the file back to your expansion card.

Q: I often use an external program instead of the built-in Palm applications. What other software is PrintBoy Compatible?
A: Printing Addresses : PrintBoy will also work with any 3rd party Address List enhancement such as Action Names or Address Pro, since those applications continue to use the standard Palm Address database.
Printing Appointments: PrintBoy will also work with any 3rd party Datebook enhancement such as DateBk4, since those applications continue to use the standard Palm DateBook database
Printing Documents: PrintBoy Documents supports Wordsmith, Quickword (Quickoffice), Thinkoffice, Documents to Go 4.0, 5.0, 6.0 & 7.0 and FreeWrite, but will also work with any document reader/converter that stores documents on the Palm in the ".doc" format ( Like , Aportis, SmartDoc, Iambic Reader, Teal Doc, etc.)
Printing Spreadsheets: SheetsToGo 4.0, 5.0, 6.0 & 7.0 Quicksheet (Quickoffice), Minicalc and Thinkoffice are all supported.
Printing Databases: SmartListToGo, HandBase, ThinkDB and MobileDB are currently supported.

Q: Can PrintBoy print foreign language text?
A: PrintBoy now supports printing of international languages and characters (French, German, Italian, and Spanish) using our LaserJet, Canon TruePage and Epson TruePage drivers.

Q: Does your software print graphics?
A: Yes! PrintBoy supports HP Laser Jets (PCL 4 and above), HP DeskJet, Canon (TruePage Driver), O'Neil Microflash. PrintBoy's graphical output of calendars, to-do lists, memo's and other data is unmatched by any other printing product for the Palm. If you want to print graphics, make sure you are printing to a printer that we have created a specific driver for like the Pentax Pocket Jet, HP and compatible products and the O'neil. Canon, Seiko and "generic" drivers will be automatically sensed, and PrintBoy will print out using a simpler but attractive text-only format.

Q: I would like to know about PrintBoy's compatibility with other applications. For example, I use Datebook instead of the built-in calendar program. I also use TealDoc for documents, and CryptoPad instead of the built-in memo application. Will PrintBoy still work for me?
A: In order to have printing capability in the applications you've mentioned, the developers of those applications would need to contact us for our developers kit. The developers kit (PrintBoy SDK ) would allow them to create a printing application, similar to PrintBoy, which would function within the design of their software.

Q: Is it possible to print "Landscape" using your software?
A: The option to print "Landscape" is only available with certain drivers (HP LaserJet, HP DeskJet) and only while printing databases and spreadsheets, not documents.

Q: Can I print Documents-To-Go or text files?
A: PrintBoy supports printing documents, spreadsheets and presentations Documents to Go v. 4.0, 5.0,6.0 & 7.0.

Q: I cannot print my DocumentsToGo documents. When I open PrintBoy Documents the drop-down menus list Docs to Go, Docs to Go 5, DOC, Quickword, and Wordsmith. PB Documents does not 'see' any of the documents in Documents to Go.
A: Your DocumentsToGo documents need be on RAM not your expansion card. At present PrintBoy does not allow you to print files that are stored on your expansion card, but we do support this feature in our FilePoint product, which offers full expansion card file management for Palm handheld users. If you'd like to check out FilePoint, your best bet is to go to our web site and try a trial download here. If you want to print these files using PrintBoy alone, your only option is to temporarily move the document to RAM, then print it. After printing, you can then move the file back to your expansion card.

Q: Is it possible to print native Word/Excel documents?
A: Yes, PrintBoy has excellent support for printing of native Word and Excel documents using Documents To Go.

Documents To Go Version 6 Users: Within Documents To Go, open your native Word/Excel or WordToGo/SheetToGo file, tap the menu and choose the "Send" menu option. You will be prompted as to how to "send" the file. You should always choose "Send as DocsToGo". Files stored on either RAM or expansion card memory are supported. Make sure you have at least PrintBoy Premium version 6.03.

Documents To Go Version 7 Users: Within Documents To Go, open your native Word/Excel or WordToGo/SheetToGo file, either tap the menu and choose the "Print" menu option or tap the Print button on the Docs To Go toolbar at the bottom of the screen. If you prefer, you can still use the "Send" menu as in Documents To Go version 6. Files stored on either RAM or expansion card memory are supported. Make sure you have at least PrintBoy Premium version 6.03.

Printing from Within PrintBoy: If you would like to print from within PrintBoy, note that PrintBoy only lists documents in WordToGo/SheetToGo format which are on RAM. PrintBoy cannot "see" or print native files from within PrintBoy itself, this must be initiated from within Documents To Go (see instructions above). PrintBoy also currently cannot "see" or print files that reside on the expansion card. You can use our FilePoint product (http://www.bachmannsoftware.com/filepoint.htm) to print files from your expansion card.

Printing from Within FilePoint: If you are printing via FilePoint, FilePoint can print WordToGo/SheetToGo formatted documents from RAM or expansion card. It cannot print a native file however, it is required to do this only from within Documents To Go (see instructions above).

Q: Will PrintBoy print from Quicksheet?
A: Yes, PrintBoy contains native support for printing Quicksheet spreadsheets. In fact, Quicksheet/Quickoffice (5.6 or higher) even has a print icon inside its program, allowing you to use PrintBoy without exiting their program.

Q: Will this program integrate with products like Pedit 4.05?
A: PrintBoy will successfully print data copied from any clipboard compatible application, which presumably includes pedit. We have plans later this year to introduce further data types that can be printed from PrintBoy.

Q: How long before PrintBoy supports faxing?
A: We intend to release a print to fax driver in the future.

Q: Can I beam PrintBoy to my other Palm?
A: We have disabled beaming of the application and its components. Part of the reason for this is that there are many individual components and for PrintBoy, and we felt it would be problematic for users who accidentally omitted a component. To get the software on a palm device you need to hot synch down the software as described in the user manual.

Q: What are PBF_CN... and PBF_TNR... files for? They are large files and I do not know if I need them.
A: You will only need these files if you plan on using the TruePage drivers. If you do not plan on using the TruePage drivers it is safe to delete them.

Q: Can I print multiple addresses from my address book?
A: PrintBoy currently prints one address from the address book at a time. We may add printing multiple addresses in future releases.

Q: The fonts I chose for my document display correctly on my Palm device, but when I go to print the document using PrintBoy, they come out using Times Roman as the font.
A: On Palm devices, display fonts are totally different from printer fonts. Palm has not chosen to support printing in the base operating system, thus it has not made available printer-appropriate fonts suitable for use by PrintBoy. PrintBoy will do its best to match the requested font typeface and size with a font that is available on the target printer, but cannot guarantee that any arbitrary font will be matched. This is a limitation of Palm OS, as well as the Palm OS devices. Depending on the document, and subject to the limitations imposed by Palm OS and Palm devices, PrintBoy does as good a job as possible to replicate the appearance of the original document in printed form. We are always working to improve this to the extent we can.

Q: Am I able to adjust the margins on my printouts?
A: Currently, you may only adjust the left margin using certain drivers; HP LaserJet & Compatibles, HP DeskJet & Compatibles, Epson, Lexmark, Citizen

Q: Can I use size A4 paper?
A: Yes, PrintBoy now supports Letter, Legal ,A4, A5, A6, and all Franklin Covey paper sizes.

Q: What fonts are currently supported?
A: Courier and Times Roman

Q: I am testing PrintBoy with my Palm Vx and Apple Laser Writer II printer. I cannot seem to figure out which driver to use or which comm. speed.
A: See our Printer Compatibility Chart. This may also be viewed from our support page on our website. If the printer is not listed try the generic driver at 9600bps speed.

Q: Can I use PrintBoy to print e-mail through other software, for example VersaMail?
A: PrintBoy will not print an e-mail from VersaMail at this time.

Back to the top of page.

NETWORK PRINTING

Q: Can PrintBoy print to a Network printer?
A: PrintBoy allows you to print directly from your Palm to your printer, using infrared, Bluetooth or serial connection between the Palm device and the printer. If your network printer has an IR port and the printer was set up to acknowledge that port, you should be able to print. Take a look at our PrintBoy Premium Network Printing Pagesoftware for more information on printing via Network (802.11).

Q: I have a regular Palm. How can I connect to my network?
A: Check out the Enfora Wireless Portfolio.

Q: I have PrintBoy Premium and would like to print to my network printer. When setting this up in PrintBoy, where do I find the port? A: Generally you can try the default of 9100 but if that does not work you should check with your network administrator or in the documentation for the server.

Q: I am trying to set up my network printer. Where do i find the IP Address and port for the printer?
A: When printing via network your printer does need to have it's own IP address and port. If your printer has one your administrator should be able to tell you what it is.

Q: I don't think my network printer has its own IP address, but I can print to it from my Windows PC. How can I get PrintBoy to connect to this printer?
A: You can download and install PrintBoy Proxy Server, which allows you to print from PrintBoy to any locally attached or networked printers that your Windows PC can print to. Click here for more information on network printing and PrintBoy Proxy Server.

Q: I have a printer attached to my Windows PC. Can PrintBoy print to it?
A: You can download and install PrintBoy Proxy Server, which allows you to print from PrintBoy to any locally attached or networked printers that your Windows PC can print to. Click here for more information on network printing and PrintBoy Proxy Server.

Q: I have router (or Wi-fi access point) that provides a print server that uses the standard Unix LPR protocol. Can I use PrintBoy to print to printers using this method?
A: The key here is that it expects standard unix LPR. We currently don't support that protocol at this time.

Q: I have my network printer connected to a Linksys EFSP42 print server. How do I configure PrintBoy to be able to connect to my printer?
A: The Linksys print server uses a special port number that you must enter in PrintBoy's Print Setup. In Print Setup, edit the settings for your printer driver. Choose "Network" as the transport, and specify the IP address of your printer. In the Port field, change the default value of 9100 to be either 4010 for the Linksys parallel port 1, or 4020 for the Linksys parallel port 2.

ERROR MESSAGES/TROUBLESHOOTING

Q: I am experiencing an error when I print "Error 15 Opening Page Manager". Can you tell me what this is and how to fix it?
A: Error 15 can be a the result of a few problems:

  • The software is looking for an IR port on your printer. Make sure your printer has an IR port or add on IRDA adapter, like our InfraReady Adapter.
  • You are not pointing the Palm's IR port correctly at the printer's IR port.
  • You are using the wrong driver for your printer.
  • The communications speed settings for your printer are not set correctly.

For #3 or #4, tap the setup button on the PrintBoy main screen, and verify that you have selected the correct printer and driver settings.

Q: When attempting to print via IR "Error 25 Opening Page Manager" message appears.
A: Your printer may not have an IR port.

Q: What does Error 17 mean and how do I fix it?
A: Error 17 is an error from Palm's IR stack that indicates it could not discover the printer's IR port. It has nothing to do with the applications installed on the device.

In some extremely rare cases we have seen certain types of lighting cause some interference, but by far the most common error is that the Palm's IR port is not pointed properly at the printer's IR port, and at a range of 1 to 3 feet. If it is too far off to the side, IR will fail. It will also fail if it is too close (6 inches is too close).

Q: I get a "Fatal Exception" whenever I try to print. Can you help?
A: For the quickest response to your technical support questions, please complete our Support Form on our website for the appropriate product. This helps us gather the information needed to address most issues.

Q: There are no scroll arrows on the screen that shows the memo titles. I am having trouble figuring out how to get to the end of my memo list.
A: Please use the scroll bar on the PDA device itself (not the screen) to view the rest of your memo titles.

Q: I own about 10 PDAs, when I go to install your software on my Palm desktop, the installation program is not able to manage my long list of hot sync/user names, and your installer skips the step that asks for the correct HS/User name. How do I go about installing now?
A: You are able to install manually using the Palm Install tool. Go to the directory in which you installed the software and you will see a list of .prc files and .pdb files.
For PrintBoy it can't hurt to install all the .prc and .pdb files. The required files are:
printmgr.prc
pagemgr.prc
irmgr.prc
BPMConfig.prc
PBShell.prc
The drivers are named BPM*.prc. You can pick the drivers you want.
The applets are named PB*.prc. You can also pick those. To PBLaunchDO.prc must accompany PBDoc.prc and PBLaunchSP.prc must accompany PBSpread.prc. qsimport.prc is required for QuickSheet printing. pbf*.pdb are font files and are only needed if you want to use the Canon Advanced driver.

Q: I downloaded and installed PrintBoy. When I tap on any of "Print" buttons of the PrintBoy Apps, I get the following message: MemoryMgrNew.C, Line: 4232, Nil Ptr
A: The error is due to a missing prc file in the installation. Please verify you have installed:

printmgr.prc
pagemgr.prc
irmgr.prc
bpmconfig.prc

Also please verify that you have run setup, chosen a printer driver, and set the driver as the default. PrintBoy installs with the generic driver set at serial, so you'll need to change that to fit your printer.

Q: I have PrintBoy and just set up and new Canon BJC-50, why can't I print graphics (lines)? ?
A: Try using the Canon TruePage Driver for Canon BJC 50, 80, 85, and 55 series portable printers. The recommended Comm. Speed should be 57600.

Q: I'm having trouble printing from my Sony Clie NX series to my HP DeskJet 350 with built in HP IR dongle? Can you help?
A: Try adjusting the comm. speed in PrintBoy Setup to 9600. The Sony Clie NX series printing to the HP DeskJet 350's ir dongle won't work at speeds higher than 9600.

Q: I just got a Sony Clie and I tried to beam and then print and could not do either. Do you have any information on this?
A: What we have learned so far is that a soft reset will correct this IR problem on the Sony Clié (T615 OR T415) but please take a look at the Clié Support Page for an update called ircloader.prc in the "irc libraryv1.1 update". There is apparently a bug in the Sony IR stack.

Q: When attempting to print native documents directly from the expansion/memory card using Quickoffice 7, I receive an error message "error making connection" and then a "Fatal Error" that requires a reset. What do I do?
A: The makers of Quickword have resolved this issue. The fix will be included in their next product build. In the mean time, please contact Cutting Edge Software, Inc. and they will make sure you get the updated prc.
