Scantron Broadens Offerings of Third-Party Applications To Include Infinity Softworks and Bachmann Software Products
SEATTLE, Wash. - June 30, 2003... Scantron Corporation, a leading provider of education testing and assessment tools for 31 years, is expanding the products it sells for handheld computers and other mobile devices to include calculator applications from Infinity Softworks Inc. and wireless printing solutions from Bachmann Software & Services. The reseller agreements were announced here during the National Education Computing Conference where Scantron is demonstrating its products in the Palm Solutions Group booth #3128 through July 2 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center.
"To augment our testing and assessment solutions, we're providing customers with an easy way to buy a growing array of teaching and student productivity tools for handhelds and other mobile computing devices," said Tom Hoag, president of Scantron. "Infinity's calculators and Bachmann's wireless printing applications offer great value to educators and students as standalone applications or as complements to our testing and assessment solutions."
Scantron has signed an agreement with Bachmann, a developer of printing applications, to distribute its PrintBoy Premium™ software and InfraReady™ and BTReady™ adapters for printers to enable handheld computers and other mobile devices to print to any printer via infrared and Bluetooth™ wireless connections. In addition, Scantron will offer Bachmann's FilePoint Pro™ software for organizing handheld-computer files from a desktop computer.
"We are thrilled to collaborate with Scantron on distribution of our PrintBoy and FilePoint software," said Glenn Bachmann, president of Bachmann Software. "Scantron's seasoned national sales force significantly expands the awareness and availability of our wireless printing products in the education market, while placing a more complete mobile solution literally in the hands of teachers, administrators and students."
Scantron will also offer calculator applications, including powerOne Graph, powerOne Scientific, powerOne Finance and powerOne Commercial Real Estate from Infinity Softworks, a maker of financial, scientific and mathematic analysis software. Infinity Softworks' powerOne products exceed the capability of traditional calculators by utilizing spreadsheet-like templates for analyzing "what if" scenarios. They can be customized by adding templates for specific calculations.
"The alliance between Infinity Softworks and Scantron benefits schools and colleges by giving them the convenience of 'one-stop' shopping for Palm Powered devices pre-loaded with our products," said Elia Freedman, chief executive officer of Infinity Softworks. "Strategically for us, Scantron's national salesforce helps us reach many more customers, who place great value on improving technology access by providing students with mobile learning devices."
In addition to products by Infinity Softworks and Bachmann, Scantron sells Palm handheld computers and Dana by AlphaSmart, a laptop-computer alternative.
