Bachmann and Sams Publishing Agree to Second Edition
of Palm Programming Book
New Edition of "Palm Programming: The Authoritative Solution" to Address New Palm OS 5 Platform
February 1, 2002
Today, Bachmann Software announces that its president, Glenn Bachmann, has entered a publishing relationship with SAMS Publishing to
produce a revised version of his book, Palm Programming: The Authoritative Solution.
The revised version of "Palm Programming" (Sams Publishing, ISBN 0-672-3241-X, $49.99 US) will include guidance on creating Palm applications
that utilize Palm's new OS 5 operating system, as well as addressing new topics of interest to Palm developers such as expansion
memory card, color, and high resolution display support. The new edition is expected to be available at bookstores by later this summer.
Mr. Bachmann's book has enjoyed significant success among the developer community since it was introduced in 1999, prompting SAMS Sams to
have recently initiated a reprint of the current edition in response to demand.
In addition to the Palm Programming title, Mr. Bachmann is the author of several white papers covering mobile computing software
development issues, including a recent white paper "Going Mobile; Planning for a Successful Palm Software Project".
The white paper is available from Bachmann Software's website at: http://www.bachmannsoftware.com/services.htm.
"It has been very gratifying to get feedback from so many developers that were able to use the principles in my book to
develop useful Palm OS applications," said Mr. Bachmann. "With the more than 50 commercial development
projects that we have completed at Bachmann Software, along with the ever-improving Palm OS,
I wanted to share some of what my firm has learned since the original book was published three years ago."
"It is always a pleasure to work with technology insiders like Glenn," said Michael Stephens executive editor at Sams Publishing.
"He brings great insights into the PalmOS and an ability to communicate fluidly with both novice and experienced Palm developers."
Bachmann Software, a leading developer on the Palm OS platform, will be giving away signed copies of the book
"Palm Programming; The Authoritative Solution" at their Palmsource booth in San Jose, February 5-8. Bachmann Software will be exhibiting at booth 104.
