January 30, 2002
Bachmann Software & Services today introduces PrintBoy™CE, the newest solution in their growing arsenal of mobile printing solutions.
With PrintBoy™ already a leader in printing software for the Palm OS® platform, Bachmann Software's new PrintBoyCE application will
allow Pocket PC users to enjoy the same ability to wirelessly print data from their Windows Powered devices .
"PrintBoy offers mobile device users a simple way to put their electronic data on paper," said Douglas Dedo, Lead Product
Manager for the Mobility Division at Microsoft Corp. "Printing directly from a Pocket PC enables people to do a broader range of tasks while mobile such as providing customers with
invoices, patients with printed prescriptions or partners with business proposals."
PrintBoyCE supports Pocket Word, Pocket Excel and Inbox e-mail, offering output that rivals desktop print quality.
The new software will support multiple wireless platforms, including infrared, 802.11b and Bluetooth.
Features such as rich text (including color), centering, multi-sized fonts, and even strike-thru are all supported.
Broad print driver support is also included, offering compatibility with
popular printers from Hewlett Packard, Epson, Canon, and SiPix, among others.
PrintBoyCE will be available on Bachmann Software's website Bachmann Software's website (www.bachmannsoftware.com)
Customers can save $20 when they purchase PrintBoyCE with Bachmann's InfraReady adapter, which plugs into the parallel
port of virtually any printer, allowing it to receive information beamed via IR from a handheld device. For a limited time,
Bachmann Software has also agreed to sell PrintBoyCE for only $5 extra as a special bundle offer with IPAQ, Jornada, and
Casio-compatible portable keyboards through a cooperative partnership with ThinkOutside (www.thinkoutside.com).
"Typing and printing are two inseparable components of document creation," said Phil Baker, president of ThinkOutside,
makers of the popular Stowaway™ portable keyboard. "We are thrilled to be able to offer our customers both of these outstanding
products in a single mobile solution."
"With a growing number of choices among mobile computing devices, we are delighted to be the first company to offer
wireless printing solutions across both the Palm OS and PocketPC platforms," stated Dan Reuvers, Bachmann Software's
vice president of business development. "We remain committed to being the leader in mobile printing solutions and the
addition of Pocket PC support to our PrintBoy product line is an important step in demonstrating that commitment."
