Bachmann Software’s PrintBoy Pro, Wireless Printing Solution for Palm Powered Handhelds, Introduced to Retail Stores by Handmark
Infrared printing utility to be sold in office supply and electronics retailers nationwide
September 19, 2001
SPARTA, NJ and KANSAS CITY, MO…Bachmann Software announced a licensing agreement with Handmark, whereby retail chains nationwide will sell Bachmann’s PrintBoy software. Handmark will publish and distribute copies of Bachmann Software’s PrintBoy Pro™, enabling users of all Palm Powered™ handheld computers to simply beam their data to an infrared-equipped printer to produce hard copies wirelessly. PrintBoy Pro supports the printing of all native Palm Powered applications, including Calendar, Contacts, Memo, E-mail, To-Dos and clipboard, as well as many of the industry’s leading word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
Handmark has become a leader in the Palm OS® software market, producing more than a dozen popular applications available in retail stores across the U.S. The companies have agreed to further integrate PrintBoy support with Handmark MobileDB, 4.0 Student and Checklist applications. PrintBoy Pro’s ability to preserve rich document text complements Handmark’s recently licensed WordSmith word processing application as well.
With an estimated retail price of $29.99, PrintBoy Pro combines the most comprehensive printing solution for the Palm OS, including broad third-party software and print driver support, along with an available adapter that converts printers without infrared ports to accept beamed data. The retail version of PrintBoy Pro will include a $15 savings coupon, redeemable at Bachmann Software’s Web site, toward the purchase of the InfraReady adapter (regularly $69.99).
“Speaking as one of Bachmann Software’s licensees, PrintBoy certainly adds an important level of utility to the Palm OS,” stated Gabriel Acosta-Lopez, Palm, Inc.’s senior director of platform development services. “We are pleased to see the company’s addition to the Handmark portfolio, as the availability of valuable Palm OS software in retail chains continues to grow.”
