Bachmann Software Renews License With Palm, Inc.
MultiMail Pro to continue using PrintBoy for wirelessly printing email content
October 9, 2001
Bachmann Software today announces the renewal through September 2003 of its license agreement with Palm, Inc. to include its PrintBoy printing utility within Palm’s MultiMailÒ Pro email software. The agreement, scheduled to extend through October 2003, recognizes the importance of printing among the core business functions supported by the Palm OS® platform. PrintBoy software includes driver and formatting support, enabling users to wirelessly print email content by beaming it directly to an infrared-equipped printer.
“Just as printing capabilities are essential with desktop PCs, more and more of our customers are finding the ability to print content directly from their handhelds to be a vital function,” said Steve Janiak, email product manager at Palm, Inc. “We have chosen to extend our relationship with Bachmann Software as PrintBoy meets our customers’ needs so effectively.”
To expand the availability of infrared printing capabilities, Bachmann Software introduced InfraReady, a small, portable adapter, earlier this year. This adapter converts virtually any printer with a parallel port to accept infrared data from Palm Powered™ handhelds.
Bachmann’s own retail version of PrintBoy, PrintBoy Pro, also supports the printing of email content from basic Palm OS applications.
PrintBoy software provides the users of Palm Powered handhelds to print their most important content. By including driver support for most of the popular printers on the market, users can simply select the application that they want to print and beam their data to a printer. PrintBoy supports appointments, contacts, memos, to-do items, e-mail, and the clipboard. PrintBoy Deluxe includes all of those same functions, with the addition of documents, spreadsheets and databases, allowing users to print imported Word and Excel documents.
